Easy Peasy Christmas Pins... by Corey

So I've got two trees up.  Both have fallen over.  Both full of water.  So that's why the carpet's all wet, Todd.  The stockings are hung on the staircase with care (cause I live in Florida and fireplaces are tough to come by).  I'm in the spirit!

And thanks to Pinterest I'm a damn Christmas decorating machine. But, if I'm going to do something via Pinterest, it has to be easy.  Like cake.  I don't sew, I don't cook using reductions, and subway art creations aren't my strong suit.  So, if you're like me, here are a few even you can do!

Apothecary jars filled with candy.  The Pin has cute letters spelling "JOY" and the jars are filled with marshmallows   But, my apothecary jars aren't apothecary jars, they're candle holders. Therefore they have no lids.  So candy instead of marshmallows   And I bought that chalkboard at JoAnn Fabrics, painted it red and gave it white polka dots.  Done.

This one is my favorite.  I LOVE getting Christmas cards.  LOVE.  Mine went out the day before Thanksgiving so they were the first to arrive (I know there's no prize for that, only a personal joy and satisfaction for my OCD, scheduled soul).  In years past I would tape them to the side of the fridge or to a door or something.  And they looked ok, but someone's is always accordion folding and they never fit together in a perfect collage.  So, I stole this idea from Pinterest.  Ribbon.  A couple command hooks.  Clothes pins.  Done.

Oh and I'm not crafty.  At all.  I don't come up with crafts.  I'm bad at bubble letters.  My handwriting isn't spectacular and also I think Play-Doh is messy.  All of these things might make me a bad mom.  But I did create a hand print Christmas tree on a canvas with my kids.  And I love it.  And I love that someday their hands will be big and I can remember when they were small.  A canvas.  Some finger paint.  And a paint brush. Done. Done. Done.

Happy happy Christmasing!!!

PS: Pretty glad I watermarked these amazing photos, aren't you?  :)

  2. You had me at your Christmas Vacation reference. I love the painted handprints. I might get up enough liquid courage and try that with my 3 year old. But that may make it worse on second thought...... Looks great, though!

  3. Thanks for the ribbon card idea!! I'm going to do that!

I don't do pinterest for fear that my family would never see me again due to a crafting haze but I do enjoy stealing ideas of what other people find on interest :)

  4. I love these! Especially the ribbon card idea! We did the hand tree this year too, and it's one of my favorite things my little guy has ever made (mostly because he usually refuses to do anything crafty haha).
